Manchester United Step Up Interest in Fulham Youngster Josh King as £50m Move Looms

Manchester United are reportedly stepping up their interest in Fulham midfielder Josh King as they look to strengthen their attacking options for the future. The 19-year-old has attracted attention after making significant progress at Craven Cottage, with his recent performances suggesting he could become an important player in the years ahead. United have been monitoring his development closely and are now considering whether to pursue a potential deal.

King came through Fulham’s academy and gradually worked his way into the senior squad. After spending the past two seasons in a rotational role, he has established himself as a regular starter, featuring from the beginning in all six of Fulham’s Premier League matches this season. Despite the team’s difficult start to the campaign, the young midfielder has shown encouraging signs of his ability, contributing to three goals across all competitions.

According to reports from Football Insider, Manchester United have expressed an interest in signing King following their ongoing assessment of his progress. However, Fulham are under little pressure to sell, as his current contract runs until 2029. The London club would reportedly consider an offer exceeding £50 million, meaning United could face a significant financial commitment if they decide to make a move.

King is a technically gifted, right-footed attacking midfielder known for his pace, close control, and ability to create chances for teammates. He is also willing to work hard defensively, making him an appealing option for a team seeking greater depth in the number 10 position. United currently have Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount in that role, while young prospect Shea Lacey offers another option. However, Mount’s fitness concerns, Fernandes’ age and contractual situation, and Lacey’s need for further development have encouraged the club to explore alternatives.

Signing King could give Manchester United a promising long-term solution in attacking midfield, particularly if they want to prepare for changes in their squad over the coming seasons. His Premier League experience and potential make him an attractive prospect, although the reported asking price could complicate negotiations. For now, United’s interest remains at the monitoring stage, and it remains to be seen whether the club will make a formal approach in 2027.
