Italy Eye Rising Star Nicolò Tresoldi as Roberto Mancini Pushes for International Switch

Italy are stepping up their efforts to recruit Nicolò Tresoldi, the promising Club Brugge striker who has attracted attention with his performances this season. A scout from the Italian national team was reportedly present at the Champions League meeting between Inter and Club Brugge at the San Siro, highlighting the growing interest in the young forward. His international future has become an important talking point as Italy look to strengthen their attacking options.

Tresoldi has made an encouraging start to the campaign, scoring six goals in ten appearances for Club Brugge. Although he was born in Italy, he grew up in Hannover, Germany, and has represented Germany at several youth levels. He is currently part of Germany’s Under-21 setup and is expected to feature in the European Under-21 Championship next summer, making his international situation more complicated.

Italy’s interest has reportedly been encouraged by national team coach Roberto Mancini, who hopes to persuade Tresoldi to represent the Azzurri at senior level. However, the striker is not yet ready to make a final decision because of his existing commitment to Germany’s Under-21 team. He has indicated that he intends to honour that commitment before considering his long-term international future.

Tresoldi’s background gives him a personal connection to both countries, and his international allegiance remains an open question. Italy believe his Italian roots could help convince him to switch sides, while his development within German football has already established a strong connection with the country. Mancini is understood to be optimistic about Italy’s chances, although the final decision will ultimately rest with the player.

Italy have previously succeeded in attracting players who represented other countries at youth level, including Cagliari midfielder Alessandro Romano, who had featured for Switzerland’s Under-21 team before making his senior debut for Italy. Tresoldi could become another important addition if he eventually chooses the Azzurri. With his goalscoring form and potential for further growth, the Club Brugge forward is emerging as a player worth watching as the battle for his international future continues.
